If you want to track elements for After Effects CS4, there is already an alternative to the AE tracker thanks to Imagineer Systems.  MochaAE is included in the software purchase, and gives compositors a much stronger planar tracker than you've ever had before.   Also, check out the newer plugin mocha shape AE.  With the ability to import tracked splines into your scene, it makes rotoscoping a little less painful.  Also, mocha Shape AE allows artists to assign PER VERTEX edge feathering.
